© 2011 'Fruit Trees With Missing Trunks' David has recently been in touch with West Country Galleries to tell us about one of his latest creations entitled `Fruit Trees With Missing Trunks`. He informed us that these four paintings where originally sketched back last year, but he has only got round to doing them now and it was perfect timing as he is now painting still life. David was told to start painting real life by Peter Smith ; so these paintings sprung to mind. After a few life paintings David decided to go for the proper paintings and they turned out just as he wanted them too in fact better, because the original sketches had tree trunks in them. Whilst putting in the sky, he stood back and thought they look really nice as they are more surrealism so with his mind made up, he got started on glazing (a new technique) and as you can see from the picture they look pretty real! They are available to purchase on his gallery page now. Note: they do not come framed! |

Vincent Blackwell - New Works On His Gallery Page.
Creative Rage by artist Vincent Blackwell |
Cosmic Connections by Vincent Blackwell |
His work is vastly admired, especially those embracing the abstract and contemporary field of painting. Vincent is still receiving positive responses from people who have viewed his work, garnering comparisons to the likes of Pollock and Monet. His work is highly textured and consists usually of three to seven layers on the composition. The architecture of these striking pieces is manifested in the wide range of tools Vincent uses to achieve his artistic intention to canvas.
During the year, Vincent’s work was shown at exhibitions in Sidmouth, Devon, followed by a solo exhibition at the Grapevine Wine Bar, Exmouth, Devon.
His style has been recognised and admired by an international art curator who is aligning him with various exhibitions in Paris and New York.

art@eype4 - St Peter’s church Eype, Bridport
SATURDAY NOVEMBER 26TH 10.30am – 5.00pm
SUNDAY NOVEMBER 27TH 10.30am – 4.00pm
In 2010 , a small group of West Dorset artists got together to promote and exhibit the work of both established and lesser known artists in Dorset.
The first exhibition proved to be such a success that now Art@Eype has become firmly established on the West Dorset Exhibition Calendar, a bi-annual event in the months of July and November.
Showing recent work from some of Dorset's finest artists, the exhibition promises a diverse, visual experience embracing a wide range of styles and visitors will see an ever-changing exhibition featuring different artists at each event.
It is a unique opportunity to meet the artists and our resident artists Sally Davies and Marion Taylor; view their work and enjoy a coffee or light lunch provided by Manna Organics.
Set in the idyllic Dorset countryside, with stunning sea views, Eype Centre for the Arts at St. Peter's Church, Eype is a well known venue for the arts and literature.

159th Autumn Exhibition
Royal West of England AcademyQueens Road

BS8 1PX
Tel: 0117 973 5129
The Royal West of England Academy’s autumn exhibition is a stalwart of the south west’s arts calendar, with a history going back more than 150 years.
While it may not attract the media coverage of events like the Royal Academy’s summer show in London, it remains a highly popular and diverse event, and this year’s exhibition - the 159th - continues the tradition.
With more than 600 works on show the exhibition encompasses a huge variety of styles and artists and includes work by Tracey Emin, Louise Bourgeois, Brigit Riley and Hugh Dunford Wood (whose work is featured above) – The Boarding House and The Craftsmen’s Contract.
It runs from 24 October until 12 December 2011.
