Creative Passion of Julia Sparkes

Our resident artist Julia Sparkes has been busy updating her gallery page with some stunning new creations!  Her passion drenched appreciation for the world around her is soaked in every brushwork executed by this talented artist; evoking the special magic of the location in which she finds herself.  Her command of light effects in each of her pieces is crucial and even in her larger works, Julia will incorporate some very small detail.  Julia says “this is a secret between me and the viewer who cares to discover them”.

Julia’s chosen medium for her work is elected when keying in to the subject and atmosphere embracing the exhibit at the time.  

Her work has been shown in prestigious galleries in Ireland, London and the West Country. Julia has also received many private commissions.

Garden of the Poets, Seville by Julia Sparkes

One of the gardens of the Alcazar Palace (Seville, Spain) is The Garden of the Poets.

Here, the water, statuary and precisely spaced hedges give a cool, serene, and rhythmic atmosphere. Presumably designed to inspire poets looking down from this high view-point.

Julia has used watercolour on smooth paper to get a finely detailed result.
