Suzanna Lance- Racing II

West Country Galleries recently paid a visit to Dorset to see four of their resident artists staging their own exhibitions. Away from the venues, we traveled down to Devon and came upon a gorgeous gallery tucked in a picturesque corner of Budleigh Salterton known as Isca Gallery. Upon entering, we were immediately reeled in by the warm introduction and greeting we received from the gallery owner herself , contemporary artist Susanna Lance. We immediately became a big fan of her work and are in the process of welcoming her to our site.

We are very excited about this as Susanna Lance is well recognised in the field of her art and has won several prizes in local clubs and exhibitions. Her initial works of animals and landscapes of Devon proved popular. Since then her work developed and has been influenced by the post impressionist movement. Strong colour themes and fluidity of movement now characterise her work. She turned professional in the early 90's and has had one man shows sponsored by K.P.M.G Peat Marwick and at Walker Galleries. Continually exploring new media and techniques, her work is moving towards expressionism through colour and form.

Susanna spent several years travelling and working in various countries, including India, Singapore and Norway before settling in East Devon in 1988.

Her gallery was set up in 1993 and is renowned for it stunning array of artwork and mixed media. Susanna relishes the visits to her gallery and is more than happy to discuss her work on display.

Born in Kuching, the capital city of Sarawak. She started her career as a supervisor in the jungles of Borneo helping the indigenous tribes set up co-operatives.

The popular clothes retailer Fat Face has recently celebrated the work of a selection of talented artists in the South West of England, by showcasing their masterpieces in the windows across all stores in the UK and Ireland. Susanna Lance has been selected as one of these artists.
