`YOUR PAINTINGS` NOW LAUNCHED ON THE BBC

Take A Guided Tour  of the Nation's Art Collection

There is a groundbreaking new web initiative that aims to put the nation’s complete oil painting collection online for the first time which is uncovering the nation's art collection.

Frank Skinner is just one of the guides to the paintings in the nation's art collection.  You are also able to choose your own tour guide if you prefer. Leading figures in entertainment and the arts have created a wonderful slideshow guide of some of their personal choices.

You will be amazed at the hundreds of participating galleries and collections across the UK.  You can even find a gallery to visit near you.

There are currently 63,000 paintings on line now! and the catalogue is building. The site is asking members of the public to get involved and help them tag the nation's paintings. On the site you will see a `Target` logo which is a barometer view of the tagged collections so far.....the aim is to ramble towards a target of 200,000 paintings!

There is also a segment devoted to `Hidden Paintings`, which leads you to watch BBC iPlayer for some enthralling stories about paintings that are not on public display. `Share Your Discoveries` is another category that is hungry to hear from the public of paintings that embrace a special meaning for you.
